Today Maksym, a 19 year old, ukkrainian basketballer from Logabirum, who supports the youth work at the local club. Thereby he provides a very important input for our society.

Please give a short introducion of yourself and tell us how old you are and where your roots are.
Mein Name ist Maksym Fomenko. Ich bin 19 Jahre alt und komme aus der Ukraine. Ich lebe in Deutschland seit April 2022.
My name is Maksym Fomenko, I’m 19 years old and come from Ukraine. I have been living in Germany since April 2022.
Was machst Du zurzeit? (Beruflich, ehrenamtlich im Verein oder sonst)
What are you doing right now? (job-related, as an volunteer in a club or elsewhere)
Ich besuche eine Sprachschule, um anschließend in Deutschland studieren zu können. In Sachen Basketball trainiere ich eine U 12 Mannschaft und versuche Kindern die Sportart Basketball beizubringen.
I attend a language school so that I can then study in Germany. In basketball, I coach a U12 team and try to teach basketball to children.
Wie bist Du zu dieser Aufgabe gekommen?
How did you get to this task or function?
Mein Verein hat mich gefragt, ob ich Lust habe mich als Basketballtrainer einzubringen. Es gibt mir die Möglichkeit mir ein wenig Taschengeld nebenbei zu verdienen. Ich genieße es sehr mit den Kindern zu arbeiten.
I was asked by my club if I would like to get involved in basketball as a coach. It also gives me the opportunity to earn a little pocket money on the side. I really enjoy working with the children.

Ja, im Sportverein.

Ich spiele Basketball in der ersten Mannschaft für Fortuna Logabirum und mache Krafttraining in meiner Freizeit. Ich habe auch Karate und Kickboxen gemacht.
I play basketball for Fortuna Logabirum in the first team and do strength training in my free time. I used to do karate and kickboxing.
Fühlst Du Dich integriert in der Stadt / dem Ort, wo Du lebst bzw. generell in Deutschland?
Are you feeling integrated in society in the city / the place where you live respectively general in Germany?
Ja, ich fühle mich integriert in Deutschland. Meine Mannschaftskollegen und mein Trainer helfen mir, wenn ich Fragen habe, die ich nicht selber beantworten kann und sie haben mir auch geholfen Basketballschuhe zu kaufen. Das schätze ich sehr.
Yes I feel integrated in Germany. My teammates and my coach help me when I have questions that I can''t answer myself and have also helped me buy basketball shoes. I really appreciate that.
Bist Du schon einmal mit Fremdenfeindlichkeit konfrontiert worden?
Did you ever got in contact with hostility against strangers?
Nein, zum Glück bisher nicht.
No, I´m lucky I did not have to suffer that up to now.
